PORC (Penshurst Off Road Club), Penshurst Kent - Downhill & Freeride
The best known Freeride and Downhill venue in Kent is now not closed for good
Previous information about PORC being closed for good was wrong.
An uplift service is now available (not sure how long that will last)
PORC has been a popular venue for Downhill, Freeride, Dirt jumping and 4X for many years. In 2008 some extensive work has been carried out on the park including the cross country course, prepared for a bid to become a venue for the 2012 olympics (unfortunately declined due to the rural location and travel from London). National level downhill races are held frequently. Southerndownhill.com describe PORC downhill as "an amazing short course"and "a breeding ground for some greats, including Steve Peat and Rob Warner, along with the Athertons having made appearances in the last couple of years".
One of the main features is the quarry featuring some comprehensive arrangements for dirt jumping. The 4x or dual track is a little ragged but a pretty good laugh as you'll be gathering some serious speed after the bridge and second table top. I've not actually tried the downhill course so no comment there. Sorry for such a rubbish review, it's been a while since I was 'up there'. Best advice is to watch the YouTube footage as pictures speak 1000 words.
Opening times:
7 days a week 10am to 6pm or Dusk in the winter months.
